Preparation and holding of visual communication projects for Ukraine-Poland presentation for the right to host EURO 2012 UEFA European Football Championship
All the works within this Project framework have been performed during 14 months – in the period of February 2006 through April 2007. Generally, the works were divided into 3 phases, the first of which was the Ukraine and Poland presentation at ÕÕÕ UEFA Congress in Budapest, Hungary – a capital of the country we competed with for the right to host EURO 2012.
The presentation was carried out on a specially made stand. A multimedia controlled presentation and video films were demonstrated, a special newspaper on 8 A2 size sheets, an image booklet and gift bags were distributed.
While preparing for the presentation, we collected and systematized materials from all bidding cities, based on which texts for the newspaper and booklet were created. The multimedia presentations and video films were prepared using available video materials, including archive materials. The second work phase was designing a promo action concept. It differed greatly from most similar activities owing to its open positive nature. Among other things, of great success was one the action components – a campaign for collection of children’s letters and drawings. During the campaign, we received about 2 000 000 letters and drawings that became a very important and emphatic accord in our final presentation.
In the third work phase, we focused on preparation and holding of our application’s final presentation in Cardiff, UK.
In the course of work, we prepared efficient concepts, designed effective positioning, adequate and successful strategic decisions.
Taking them as a basis, we developed scenarios, created persuasive text materials, prepared 5 segments of video materials - introduction, film about the countries, 2-segment film about infrastructure and 2-minutes final image film. Accompanying text and soundtrack were designed individually for each video material, later all graphic and video materials were integrated into one multimedia presentation. Brief information materials containing data from official documents were presented in the booklet.
The presentation proper took place on a 17-meters stage, the brand design of which was completed in a mere 7 (!) minutes – during a break after the Italian presentation. The process was going on in full view of the members of the Executive Committee present in the hall. Wittiness and teamwork were impressive – this planned and thoroughly crafted presentation element was to demonstrate our dynamism and non-routine actions. Taking this into account, the structures of decoration elements were designed in accordance with these tasks. The multimedia presentation was shown on a 10-meter screen. Therefore, a portion of our video and all graphic materials were created to take advantage of the entire screen area; their actual resolution reached 1920 pixels. The result was a premium-quality spectacular video!
The UEFA Executive Committee members also received souvenirs – nice folders with reproductions of the best children’s drawings that were extremely popular because of warmth and inartificial ways of children.
The final success was preceded by continuous work on preparation, rehearsals and holding of presentations, demanding optimal and accurate selection of necessary materials and their qualitative and stylistically balanced integration.
